Book Review: Speak by Laura Halse Anderson

Image from RRHS Catalog

Laurie Halse Anderson describes the struggles of a girl trying to overcome past events. The main character, Melinda, has an internal struggle trying to show her real colors. I recommend this book for anybody who enjoys relating to characters. In fact, you would really like this book if you like… 13 Reasons Why.

Book Review: Leaving Dirty Jersey by James Salant

Image from RRHS Catalog

Leaving Dirty Jersey is about a guy who suffers from a crystal meth addiction. Although he gets clean, he relapses. So, his family gives up on him. I like this story because I can relate. I’ve gone through a meth addiction so this book hits home for me. You would like this book if you like… reading memoirs or books about addiction, family problems, or drugs.

Book Review: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

Image from RRHS Catalog

I loved this book. If you like books with forbidden romance, adventure, and a bit of mystery, I think you will enjoy this one too! Join Jacob Jankowski in his adventures in working in a circus, falling in love with his boss’ wife, and learning to train an elephant in Polish.  The plot line is constantly changing with each turn of the page, and it will most definitely keep you wanting to know more.
