Faculty Review: One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

Four students walk into detention. However, only 3 walk out; one dies. Simon is the unfortunate one to die of an apparent anaphylactic reaction to something in his water cup. The other three are suspects. Simon had been the author behind a notorious gossip app and thus has many enemies. The police uncover other unpublished blog posts from Simon that implicate all others present in detention that day. As the story unfolds, lies left untold are uncovered and no one knows who is to blame. While this book started out slow with a lot of backstory, around half way through it became impossible to set down, so I finished in one afternoon. There are twists and turns that you don't see coming, and yet, the interpersonal relationships are so believable that you get drawn into the story. You would like this book if you like People Like Us by Dana Mele.
