Staff Review: The Wee Free Men (DiscWorld Bk 30, Tiffany Aching) by Terry Pratchett

Image from RRHS Catalog

This book is about Tiffany Aching a 9 year old witch-in-training. It tells of her simple life as a shepherdess and cheese maker. Granny Aching has died and the Chalk needs a new witch. This is where Tiffany comes in. You'll learn as you read this book that being a witch is not all about magic and potions. Sometimes, it's about being observant and kind to other people. Tiffany's brother is stolen by the fairy queen and taken to the land of dreams. The Wee Free Men (a.k.a Nac Mac Feegles), who are 6 inches high and blue, have come to help Tiffany. Tiffany brings only her frying pan and her common sense with her. Tiffany and the Nac Mac Feegles' adventures in this book are what makes great storytelling.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone. It is part of the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett which has upward to 30 novels, but there are 5 books based on the Tiffany Aching character. You would like this book if you like fantasy books such as the Harry Potter series or Michael Scott's The Alchemyst series.
