The two main characters, Mare and Cal, have just escaped from the castle and they have the list of all the newbloods. They are reds just like Mare but with powers that can create and control elements. Mare was the first newblood to find out about her powers. Mare and Cal are trying to get all of the newbloods to train and be a force to be reckoned with before Maven goes and kills them. Maven is Cal's half brother, they are silvers that can control element but not create them. Mare and Cal are being hunted by the King, Maven. They are the only people that can stop him before he kills all of the newbloods and the two of them. I recommend this book because it gives you some excitement but still gives you that little bit of romance. I also love how it is part of a series so that it doesn't leave you on a cliff hanger. You would like this book if you like adventures and fantasy. It also has some romance, but there isn't much.
