West Ashby is “big man on campus” at Lawton High. Two years after a tragic event in Maggie Carlton’s life, she comes to live with the Higgins family. Brady Higgins and West have been friends since they were 7 years old. Maggie has chosen to deal with the death of her mother by not speaking. West has chosen to keep his father's terminal illness secret from his football teammates. One evening when West is at a low point Maggie speaks to him. This is the start of a roller coaster relationship between West and Maggie. West has promised Brady, Maggie's cousin, that they are just friends. But are they? I would recommend this book to others if you like stories about real life. The 4 rating is because some of the same phrases were use continuously. You would like this book if you like… books about high school, high school drama, friendship, love, loss and grief.
