Hadley and Archer attend JFK Prep school in Manhattan. Both Hadley's parents are highly successful in their careers and so can afford to send Hadley to JFK. Archer, on the other hand, is a highly intelligent scholarship student. Hadley and Archer are now juniors and have had little to do with each other since they were in class together for freshman English.

As the story opens, we learn that Archer has ended his life. When Hadley learns of Archer's death she feels a great deal of sorrow more than she thought she would. She decides to go to Archer's funeral where she meets his grief stricken mother, Regina, and Archer's little sister, Rosie as well as the rest of the Incitti family. As she contemplates the loss she feels for Archer, she is greeted by a nether worldly creature, DEATH. DEATH makes a deal with Hadley to send her back in time 27 days to try to make a difference in Archer's life and thus change his decision to end it.

The unfolding of this story shows how being a good friend is sometimes hard but worth it.

I would recommend this book to those who love a romance story with a little supernatural elements thrown in.  You would like In 27 Days if you like books that address friendship, romance, and the supernatural.
